A four-year-old girl named Esha Nadeswaran, who was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia, has been given a new lease of life.

This is after she triumphed against the odds with a life-saving stem cell transplant just in time for Christmas.

15k donors came forward

According to The Mirror, Esha's battle began when 15,000 potential stem cell donors came forward, only to face the crushing reality that none were a match for her unique condition.

After four painstaking months of chemotherapy, her parents, Rish and Kavitha Nadeswaran, braced themselves for the worst.

Their worries were compounded when they received the devastating news that their little girl had just three weeks left to live.

As the clock ticked away, Esha's weakening condition seemed insurmountable.

Matching donor finally found

However, luck shone her way just a week before the dreaded deadline when a match was found in Singapore.

The timely discovery paved the way for a life-saving stem cell transplant, breathing new life into the little girl.

After two Christmases spent in hospitals and quarantine, the family will celebrate the holiday together for the first time in many years without worries about sickness.

“The fact that Esha is here with us now is a miracle. We will try to make as many memories as possible and ensure Esha has the most amazing time this Christmas with our extended family like we used to,” her mother said.

Twins given 0% chance of survival turn 1

Elsewhere, when Shakina Rajendram gave birth to her twins after only 21 weeks and five days, doctors told her that her babies were not viable and had a 0% chance of survival.

Weighing a combined 750 grams at birth, they were the lightest twins ever born and had they been born an hour earlier, no attempt would have been made to save their lives.

However, one year later, Adiah and Adrial celebrated their first birthday as the world's most premature twins.
