Nairobi – Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has landed yet another plum global job.
Amina is now the Commonwealth Secretary-General Special Envoy for Sports, Enterprise, and Development.
“I write to thank you for kindly accepting my invitation to be the Commonwealth Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Sports, Enterprise, and Development,” the Rt Hon Patricia Scotland KC wrote in a letter to Amina.

What gave Amina Mohamed an upper hand in the appointment?
The statement went on:
“Your professional background and extensive experience as an international civil servant, diplomat, and government minister in areas of education, science, technology, and innovation; sports, heritage, and culture; and foreign affairs combine to make you eminently qualified to fulfil this role.”
“The breadth of expertise and range of contacts on which you are able to draw will enable you to build in new ways on the immense potential of Commonwealth connections and the mutual support that flourishes among our member countries.”
Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported that Amina was appointed to an international peace organisation.
On Wednesday, December 6, Amina was named a board member of the Interpeace Governing Board, which is the highest decision-making body for the global organisation Interpeace.
How Amina Mohamed reacted to new role
A statement by Amina Live Foundations said Amina, who served under former president Uhuru Kenyatta, was delighted about the appointment.
"We are delighted to announce that Ambassador Amina Mohamed has been unanimously admitted to the Interpeace Governing Board. Amina's extensive experience in diplomacy and development will be a valuable asset to the board as we work to promote peace and security around the world. Ambassador Amina Mohamed brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Interpeace Governing Board. We are confident that her leadership will help us advance our mission of building lasting peace in conflict-affected regions," the foundation's statement read.
The organisation that the former CS was appointed to deals with providing solutions to address conflict in violence-prone countries.
Interpeace, which has 27 years of experience, comprises prominent individuals from the government, international, and business sectors and is currently chaired by Egypt's former Foreign Affairs Minister, Amre Moussa.
